Congratulations to 7th grade JV volleyball team for completing an exciting and fun season. Sadly neither team won their match against North, but they played hard and barely lost, usually by only 2 points. We had great serves by Hailey Brookins with 17, Lindsey Taylor with 10, Erin Deree with 8,Rylee Adams and Kaitlyn Killian with 7,  and Brynn Dudley and Ashley XU with 8. There were a total of 9 Aces served and Nessy Delic served up 3 spikes, Rylee Adams, Hailey Brookins and Lindsey Taylor each had 1 spike. It was a great season and they all played great! Remember to come to Coach Grigg's room on Friday during your lunch hour for our end of the season Friday.

Way to go Grizzly Girls!

Thanks,
Les

The Varsity 1 team was led by 10 serves from Grace, but it was really a team effort.  Mariah had 6, Mekayala, Kendra, and Kenie ahd 5 and Sidney had 4.  Great passes from Kenzie, Mariah, Grace, Casey, Kendra, and Emma.  We played awesome, three-hit volleyball!  Excellent work girls!

The Varsity 2 team won all three games led by Micikenzae with 15 serves, Yanira with 8, and Sophia with 8 in a row.  Petyon S., Payton O, Tatym, Sophie, Kendell, Bella, Sylvia, and Gia also contributed serves....the wins were a real team effort!  Top passes from Sophia, Yanira, Payton, and Sylvia, and some nice sets from Peyton S.

Congratulations to the Riverglen Junior High Jazz Band. Yesterday, at the Gene Harris Jazz Festival, the Jazz Band received a Superior rating for their performance. They were also the highest scoring Junior High Jazz Band, won their division, and were invited to play at the prestigious evening concert. Only 3 of the 21 bands were extended that honor. Every band member executed their roles impeccably, with solos by almost everyone.

In addition, 5 Jazz Band students played solos in the Student Jam Session. Kudos to Cameron Locati, Tyree Felder, Jack Roberts, Gunnar Schwabe-Gravon, and Jonah Baker for showing other middle school, junior high, and high school musicians that Riverglen improvisers have skills.

Great job, Riverglen Jazz Band.

8th Grade Girls Bball Report     3/6/2012

Congratulations to your 8th Grade Girl’s Varsity Basketball team form defeating Fairmont for the second time this year in a screaming, barn burner of a game. Our girls led by as much as 10 points when the Falcons went on a ten point run to tie the game late in the 4th period. The girls regained their composure while Coach Swift was struggling with near heart attack inducing stress. With the final seconds ticking away we took the lead for the final time and won 37-34. It was a furious battle with the good guys (US) suffering several injuries. Dejzhela’s knee met the Capital gym brick wall at warp speed. When irresistible force meets immovable object something must give. In this case Dezj’s knee did the giving as the brick wall held firm. She is probably out for the season and is sporting a lovely leg cast. Ashley Pelkoski broke a finger in three places as did Selena Deleon last week. On a retaliatory note, Syd “The Sydinator” Buhr totally creamed a Falcon player going for a rebound. Syd got the rebound but did not get the foul, probably because she was smiling the entire time.   On the JV side, Meg Osterhout jammed her finger pretty severely as did Tori “the Funkinator” Funk. Josie Garcia has a twisted thumb. Abby Feehan hit a last second basket once again this game as she did in the last game against South. My dad always told me that if it doesn’t kill you, it makes you stronger. I believe that so I salute you Riverglen Amazon warriors. Our battle cry is suck it up buttercup and the girls certainly have. Great job all, I am proud of you.

                      This is Coach Swift…OUT!
